Kane Shieh Weekend Income Review: Results

Here is a snapshot of the results for the service in December 2024. You can see that it has a 100% win-rate with 8 winning trades so far and no losers.

Typically, these alerts come out once a week (often on a Thursday) and are typically held over the weekend. There is some variation though.

I’m able to access the ‘test’ period data for trade results that were obtained before the service was opened for business. It looks like Kane did 35 trades with a 90% win-rate.

Kane Shieh Weekend Income Review: What Are Butterly Trades?

A butterfly trade is a popular options trading strategy that is used to profit from low volatility in the price of the underlying asset.

It involves combining multiple options contracts with the same expiration date but different strike prices. This strategy can be constructed using either calls or puts and is characterized by its limited risk and limited profit potential.

Components of a Butterfly Spread

  1. Buy one lower-strike option
  2. Sell two at-the-money (ATM) options
  3. Buy one higher-strike option

Types of Butterfly Spreads

Kane uses Long Butterly Spreads but there are two different types of butterly spreads….

  1. Long Butterfly Spread: Profits if the underlying asset’s price remains near the middle strike price at expiration. It consists of:
    • Buying one lower-strike call (or put)
    • Selling two ATM calls (or puts)
    • Buying one higher-strike call (or put)
  2. Short Butterfly Spread: Profits from high volatility (the underlying moves significantly away from the middle strike price). It involves reversing the above positions:
    • Selling one lower-strike call (or put)
    • Buying two ATM calls (or puts)
    • Selling one higher-strike call (or put)

Key Characteristics

  • Risk: Limited to the net premium paid for a long butterfly (if debit) or the difference between strikes minus the premium received for a short butterfly (if credit).
  • Reward: Limited to the difference between the middle and outer strikes, minus the cost of the trade.
  • Breakeven Points:
    • Lower breakeven = Lower strike + net premium paid (for a long butterfly)
    • Upper breakeven = Higher strike – net premium paid (for a long butterfly)

Example: Long Call Butterfly Spread

  • Stock is trading at $50.
  • Buy 1 call at $45 for $6.
  • Sell 2 calls at $50 for $3 each.
  • Buy 1 call at $55 for $1.
  • Net debit (cost): $1.
  • Max Profit: $4 (difference between middle and outer strikes minus cost).
  • Max Loss: $1 (the net debit paid).

Butterfly trades are useful for traders with a neutral view on the market, expecting low volatility around a specific price level.

Kane Shieh Weekend Income Review: Conclusions

A really nice service for Butterly trades with a very high win rate. If you are looking for a trade or two a week that has a 90%+ win-rate this could well be for you.

Good Luck Trading,

Russell
