TradingView is one of the most popular free scanners out there. It has a massive following because of all the free features they offer.

Some people pay for the premium version of TradingView because it is so powerful and useful. In this TradingView review I’l give you some insight into it and how much it costs if you want to upgrade to premium.

The Competition: Trade Ideas

*****15% DISCOUNT CODE FOR MY READERS!! IF YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM TRADE IDEAS MAKE SURE TO USE MY COUPON CODE ‘STP15’ FOR A 15% DISCOUNT!*******

Trade Ideas is far more powerful than TradingView. If you don’t know much about Trade Ideas, check out my Trade Ideas review here.

TradingView Review: Features

The cool thing about TradingView is how many free features you get. You don’t need to register or put payment details in. Paying for the Pro version does give you access to many more features like custom time intervals, layouts and different charting.

The charting is pretty good with ability to customize and save your chart layouts. There are 12 different chart types that the free version allows. The Pro version gives more chart layouts and allows the subscriber to export the data and set custom time intervals as well.

The drawing tools are also available for free. Everyone uses the drawing tools if they use technical analysis to trade – pretty much required! It’s pretty easy in TradingView to draw trend lines, flags, patterns etc.

TradingView also offers paper trading for free. I think its so important for people to paper trade strategies before going live with them.

Here is a good video overview of the whole platform. This wasn’t recorded by me.

Price Alerts

Setting price alerts at key levels is very important for most traders. You can use TradingView to do this easily. They offer this feature in the free version, but only a limited number of alerts. You can upgrade to get more.

The alerts can be set to email you or even send an SMS to notify you when a price alert is triggered. There are 12 different alert conditions to choose from.

TradingView Other Features

You can customize the scans to fit your own trading style. The community is really great and a place to get support and learn. They have a decent stock screener as well.

Paid subscribers do get access to many additional features like chat rooms and many extra indicators. Unfortunately they offer no trading education, which is a shame.

Subscribers occasionally report that the technical indicators are not that extensive and that if you use a lot of more obscure indicators in your trading, you may have to buy something else in conjunction with TradingView.

They offer more indicators for the more expensive plans, ranging from just 3 to 25 indicators per chart.

can you trade on tradingview

TradingView Review: Forex

Yup, they have a feature that allows you to screen Forex Markets. It is pretty useful for trading Forex.

TradingView Review: Crypto

Is TradingView good for crypto? Yup.

They also support charting etc for Crypto. Here is a decent overview of this that I found.

Can I use tradingview for free?

How Much is TradingView Monthly?

TradingView has several different prices. Here is an overview of the different plans.

Basic TradingView is free.

The Monthly Subscription costs:

  • Pro is $14.95 a month
  • Pro+ is $29.95 a month
  • Premium is $59.95 a month

Here is an overview of what these plans include.

You can also get a 16% discount on the subscriptions if you buy a yearly subscription. The nice thing is that they are generous with the free trials and free features in general.

Is it worth paying for TradingView? Yup, you get far more features for a very low-cost.

Can You Actually Trade on TradingView?

Once your brokerage is supported in the TradingView Web Platform TradingView users can then log into their brokerage accounts (or open a new one if needed), receive broker’s streaming data & send orders directly to the broker.

Customer Support

The community is the best place to get support for TradingView. There are a bunch of TradingView tutorials as well that are really helpful. Customer support is slow and not that good in my experience.

Side note: Get a FREE Trade Idea sent via email every week!

TradingView Review: Conclusions

TradingView is very low cost or free depending on the plan you choose. It is one of the more popular charting platforms out there for a reason – it’s good.

What is better than TradingView?

Really, there are not many other charting programs for free that are as good as TradingView. It is worth pointing out that Trade Ideas is a more powerful program to try out. Here is my review of Trade Ideas.

If charting and technical analysis is all you are looking for then be sure to check out the free version of TradingView. The Trade Ideas scanner is worth the extra cost in my opinion. It is just a whole new level compared to TradingView and might be too powerful for some people. If you do want to check it out though, you can get 15% off using my coupon code STP15.
