TheoTrade’s TheoTheta Portfolio Review: Experience Level
The TheoTheta Portfolio is best suited for experienced option traders.
Clients of TheoTrade who utilize this method must be extremely cautious about their positions, as changes in the underlying prices might have a bigger impact since the trades are executed with a high degree of certainty.

Strategies Implemented
TheoTheta uses the following methods: purchasing or selling Vertical Spreads, Index Calendars, butterflies, and Iron Condors. Weekly options may be traded as well, just like ordinary options. TheoTrade’s strategy for any trade will be determined by a variety of factors such as the underlying, volatility, and events.
Trading Vehicle
For the underlying, TheoTrades ideas are based on options in equities, ETFs, and Indices. When Selling Premium, they will generally search for possibilities of 7-100 days duration depending on overall market volatility.

Capital Allocation:
An allocation of $3000 is necessary to implement premium selling strategies in my opinion.
The maximum loss on any one trade should be limited to $500, or 16.67% of the account. This will allow for multiple small losses while the account size continues to grow.
Once the account reaches $10,000, the max loss on any one trade can be increased to $1000, or 10% of the account.
Example of The TheoTheta Portfolio
Here is a quick snapshot of the recent portfolio, so you can get some idea of the types of trades.
TheoTrade’s TheoTheta Portfolio Review: Position Sizing
The number of contracts traded will be based on the current volatility of the underlying and the current premium.
Generally, I will trade 1-5 contracts per $1000 in account value.
Exit Criteria
TheoTrade will use a trailing stop loss to exit positions. The trailing stop will initially be set at 50% of the credit received when entering the trade. As the position moves in our favor, the trailing stop will be moved up to lock in profits.
